HISTORY

1955 Jul. Sogo Blood Bank, Inc. was founded as a corporation to produce and sell conserved blood, with its head office at Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
1964 Mar. As the handling of blood transfers was centralized at the Japan Red Cross Blood Center, it was decided to diversify its business to clinical inspections.
1967 Aug. A clinical laboratory test center was established within the corporation where the laboratory test service began.
1973 Apr. Japan Clinical Service, Inc. was established as a corporation to collect specimens.
1976 Jul. The corporate name was changed to Sogo Biomedical Laboratory. At the same time, its head office was moved to Nakano-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
1985 Jan. The head office was moved to Suginami-ku, Tokyo. BML General Laboratory was established in Kawagoe-shi, Saitama as a core unit of the corporation.
1986 Jul. PCL Japan, Inc. was established to perform pathological and cytological tests.
1989 Mar. Merits, Inc. was established to build medical information systems.
Apr. The corporate name was changed to BML, Inc.
1991 Jun. Tokyo Koshueisei Laboratories, Inc. was acquired, and became a subsidiary company.
Nov. The “Frontier Specimen Dispensing System,” an automated specimen receiving, sorting, dispensing system, was developed.
1992 Aug. BML, Inc. was accepted as an accredited facility of the College of American Pathologists.
1993 Apr. The head office was moved to Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
1995 Jan. Ehime Medical Laboratories, Inc. was established to probide clinical laboratory test services in Matsuyama.
Jun. The “Symphony,” an automated laboratory test line system for biochemical and hematological tests, was developed.
1996 Jan. Biomedical Science Laboratory, Inc. was acquired, and became a subsidiary company.
Jul. Kyodo Igaku Laboratories, Inc. was acquired, and became a subsidiary company.
1997 Aug. F&S Testing Division was established within the corporation where the food sanitation test service began.
1998 Aug. Aria drug store was opened in Kashiwa-shi, Chiba, Japan and the pharmacy business began.
Oct. he “Symphony RIA,” an automated unmanned laboratory test line system in the Ligand Assay Section was developed.
Nov. Daiichi Clinical Laboratories, Inc. was acquired, and became a subsidiary company.
Dec. Allegro, Inc. was established as a CRO (Contract Research Organization) for the development of new drugs.
1999 Nov. Listed its stock with the Japan Securities Dealers Association, OTS Stock Market.
2000 Jan. Medical Information Systems Division was launched and sales of Electronic Patients’ Chart System was started.
Apr. Environmental Testing Division was established to conduct environment analysis, including air and water pollution analysis.
Dec. Genome Science Division was established to provide gene analysis services utilizing “Invader Method.”
2001 Apr. Listed its stock on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
  Aug. Kyodo Clinical System, Inc. was acquired, and became a subsidiary company.
2002 Sep. Clinical Testing Division of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was assigned.
Otsuka Tokyo Assay Laboratories was acquired, and became a subsidiary company.
2003 Feb. EAC Corporation was acquired, and became a subsidiary company.
2006 Oct. New automatic Line of biochemical general inspection by the specimen material automatic operaion transportation robot (new Symphony chemistry) is completed BML General laboratory.
2007 Mar. Business transfer of pharmacy business.
2010 Sep. The United States [Covance]Co, and joint lab for an international clinical trial are established.
2011 Apr. New electronic medical chart system for the clinic “QUALIS” Launches.
